WIZnet Launches ioPort Series: WIZ-IP20 & WIZ-IP55

WIZnet is releasing ioPort, a new RJ45-style module series made to add Ethernet to embedded products with less PCB work and faster time-to-market. ioPort modules put the Ethernet chip inside the connector, so you can keep your base board simple while still getting stable 10/100 networking.
What makes ioPort different (common features)
ioPort modules are designed for compact, production-friendly designs:
- Ethernet in an RJ45-style connector (chip built-in) for compact design-in
- Saves PCB space vs. adding a separate Ethernet module
- Simple host interface (SPI or UART/TTL, depending on model) with minimal external components
- Reduces PCB layout complexity (no high-speed Ethernet routing on the base board)
Common specs: RJ45 / 16-pin header / 3.3V / -40 to +85°C / 32.5 × 16.5 × 17.3 mm
Product 1: WIZ-IP20 (Serial-to-Ethernet, MAG-JACK)
WIZ-IP20 is a Serial-to-Ethernet module that helps you network UART/TTL-based equipment quickly.
Highlights
- Firmware is pre-written (ready to use) for quick integration
- Configuration options: Web UI, configuration tool, and AT commands
- TTL UART x1 interface (Serial-to-Ethernet)
- Certifications listed: CE / FCC / KC
Powered by W55RP20 (RP2040 + W5500 in one package)
WIZ-IP20 is built on W55RP20, which integrates:
- RP2040 (MCU)
- W5500 (hardwired TCP/IP Ethernet)
This means you get flexible control plus hardware TCP/IP offload in a single package—great for fast development and stable networking.
Product 2: WIZ-IP55 (Ethernet Network Module, MAG-JACK)
WIZ-IP55 is a compact Ethernet network offload module based on W5500, a hardwired TCP/IP chip that integrates the TCP/IP stack plus 10/100 Ethernet MAC & PHY.
If you’ve worked with embedded Ethernet before, there’s a good chance you’ve seen W5500 in the wild—it's widely adopted across maker and commercial ecosystems, including W5500-based Ethernet shields such as Arduino Ethernet Shield v2 (via the Ethernet2 library).
Highlights
- W5500-based Ethernet module (10/100)
- SPI host interface
- Certifications listed: CE / FCC / KC
MAC address policy (practical for production)
- WIZ-IP20 uses the factory MAC address stored inside the module (used automatically).
- WIZ-IP55 includes a MAC address sticker—you can use the provided MAC, or assign your own if needed.
Design verification + customization services
If you’re moving toward mass production (or need something a bit different), WIZnet can support:
- Design verification service (review + bring-up support)
- Hardware customization (interfaces, pinout, board changes)
- Firmware customization (protocol/features adjusted to your product requirements)
